New Oncidium is in bloom!

One of my newest adoptee orchids has opened their blooms! I created a post about this orchid a few weeks ago, but she’s been a very busy orchid since then.

The blooms themselves are just gorgeous. Not my usual type of bloom but they are beautiful in their own way. They are waxy looking and firm, with a mixture of browns, purples and reds. The fragrance is subtle; to my nose it is a combination of brewing coffee and a lovely floral smell. Sounds odd, but it is pleasant.

She’s also started working on two new growths which I hope you can see in the picture above.

I’m really pleased with this orchid as I wasn’t expecting her to bloom so quickly for me. She is one I could sit and study for hours.

Happy growing!
